MusicCubeOne - What’s new

The list below details all changes made to MusicCubeOne since the initial Version 1.0 release. This includes new features, improvements and also which problems that have been addressed in each version.

Version 1.4, August 19th 2008
• Added MIDI file support through soft-synthesis with sound fonts (SF2 format)
• New visualizer for displaying MIDI realtime during playback
• Menu commands for switching between the different visualizers
• Preference page for configuration of sound fonts (SF2 format)
• Added tracker control for seeking in the currently played media file and for selecting different files from the playlist
• Hints for the tracker control showing media title, artist, album, etc.
• The hint contents can be configured
• Added tone control with two bands for bass and treble
• Frequency and bandwidth for the tone control can be customized
• Added new alternate display for time, track and title information
• Added preferences for controling menu shortcuts
• Added support for opening media files through the command line
• Single files can be added: "mc.exe c:\folder\file.mp3"
• Entire directories can be added: "mc.exe c:\folder"
• Directories can also be added with limits using wildcards: "mc.exe c:\folder\best*.mp3"
• Added commandline switch for supressing the about splash. The switch is -nosplash
• Added Windows Explorer integration
• Added WinAmp IPC inteface for supporting CD Art Display and similar programs
• Added main popup menu on text, spectrum and MIDI note display
• Added support for showing disabled buttons (play, next and previous)
• Added help message when an empty playlist is displayed
• Added new brushed skin
• Updated brushed skin with new buttons
• Upgraded to BASS Version 2.4
• Upgraded to Drag and Drop Component Suite 4.2
• Minor optimization on buttons
• Changed memory manager to FastMM 4.78
• Fixed: Eliminated flickering when the program is closed
• Fixed: Correct volume level was not set initially when changing tracks during playback
Version 1.31, December 23th 2005
• Added new peak display to the spectrum
• Added on-the-fly save of configuration changes
• Made Windows Media Format dependency optional
• Minimized cpu usage when main window is hidden
• Changed configuration of spectrum to include new peak display
• Changed scrollbar on default skin
Version 1.3, November 13th 2005
• New formats supported:
• ALAC: Apple Lossless Audio Codec
• AC-3: Dolby digital audio
• TTA: The True Audio codec
• Added selection of font size for the main display.
• Added playlist repeat function.
• Added playlist shuffle function.
• Added trayicon with a small simple popup menu.
• Added livelyness option for the spectrum.
• Added configuration of colors for text and spectrum.
• Upgraded to BASS Version 2.2
• Changed seeking on music files (mod, s3m, etc.).
• Changed behavior when player reaches end of list. Now it jumps back to the first item in the list.
• Updated default skin with an extended mode containing more buttons.
• Fixed: Corrected code for drag'n'drop which could result in an access violation at program exit.
• Fixed: The Next command was not enabled when adding files while playing last number.
Version 1.23, September 9th 2005
• Added playlist sort function. The list can be sorted on Title, Album, Artist, Genre, Year, Track, Samplerate, Resolution, Channels, Bitrate, Length, Filename and Filepath, ascending and descending individually on each.
• Added search function in file browser extended to allow contents based search:
• Available for search is Title, Album, Artist, Genre, Year, Track, Samplerate, Resolution, Channels, Bitrate and Length
• Wildcards (* and ?) can be used
• Nummerical comparisons can be made with the operators <, >, <=, >=, == and !=.
• Added update in file browser giving easy access to the Desktop and My Documents folders.
• Added year and track as optional columns in the playlist and file browser.
• Added shortcuts for controling volume, Ctrl and normal +/- or Ctrl and numerical +/-.
• Added persistence of the selected view (player/playlist) so it can be restored next time the player is started.
• Added setting for controling which view is selected at startup. The options are Latest view, Player or Playlist.
• Added snap to screen functionality while moving the window.
• Added DSP function for stereo enhancement.
• Minor optimization of file tag and length information retrieval.
• Fixed length display on .m3u and .pls playlist files in file browser.
Version 1.2, July 31st 2005
• New formats supported:
• APL: Monkey's Audio Link files including files linking to non-ape files (mp3, wav, flac, etc.)
• CDA: Audio CD files with FreeDB title lookup
• AIFF: Audio Interchange File Format
• M3U/PLS: WinAmp playlists in generic and extended versions
• WPL: Windows Media Player playlist
• Changed internal playback engine to enable gapless playback:
• Works between tracks with identical samplerate, samplewidth and channel count
• Audio CD files are not supported
• Added configuration of Media folder shortcut in file browser.
• Added configuration of freedb database.
• Added confirmation dialog before clearing the playlist.
• Added about splash screen with progress during loading of playlist.
• Added popup menu on playlist with general commands from main menu and additional commands for selecting what information is shown in the list.
• Added genre, samplerate, resolution, channels and bitrate as optional columns in the playlist and file browser.
• Added volume slider in window.
• Added selection of different textsizes for the playlist.
• Added function for saving current playlist to a .m3u or .pls file.
• Volume level is shown on the taskbar button while slider is dragged.
• Title and album for currently played music is shown in the task switcher and on the taskbar button.
• Player will fade out when closed while playing.
• Fixed: Updated AAC decoder library removing memory leak.
• Fixed: Hangup in display drawing caused by resizing window.
• Fixed: All commands where not enabled correctly when player goes from first track to next during playback.
• Fixed: Display of files lacking title and album information in tag.
Version 1.1, March 28th 2005
• New formats supported:
• AAC/MP4/M4A: Advanced Audio Coding
• OFR/OFS: OptimFROG and OptimFROG DualStream
• WV: WavPack
• APE: Monkey's Audio
• MPC: MusePack
• Added keys for seeking forward and reverse.
• Added display of bitrate in file browser dialog.
• Added validation of window placement so window is placed within the current screen area when opened.
• Added configuration of output device.
• Added selection of speaker assignment, allowing swapping left and right speaker.
• Title and album texts can now be dragged when they exceed display area. The automatic scrolling is suspended while the dragging occurs.
• Clicking on the time display now toggles elapsed/remaining.
• Elapsed/remaining time selection is now remembered after restarting.
• File browser now has icon for music files.
• Optimized code for MP1/MP2/MP3 tag reading.
• Fixed: Spectrum analyzer bar and peak selection was not restored when restarting.
